The Bosnians plan to set up a wire fence with blades due to the wave of migrants at the borders with Montenegro and Serbia

If Croatia, or the European Union, closes its border for migrants, Bosnia and Herzegovina could easily close its eastern border, and one possibility is to place a wire fence with cuts against Serbia and Montenegro.

Due to a critical situation, the Council of Ministers of BiH has already asked the BiH Presidency for permission to send members of the armed forces to the border in order to prevent illegal passage to the country, and as Dragan Mektić, Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said, one possibility is to place on the boundary of the wire, if the situation changes.

“In this case, all the necessary institutions need to get acquainted and find financial means,” Mektić said.

On the other hand, yesterday the President of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Denis Zvizdić, confirmed that the complete closure of the border for migrants was one of the possibilities. He emphasized that currently around 4,000 migrants live in BiH and that they monitor the situation in Greece, where there are about 70,000. A large part of them could occur in BiH.

Director of the Foreign Affairs Service, Slobodan Ujić, told Avaz that the installation of a wire at the border is difficult to implement due to the financing and configuration of the ground.

“Do you know what our eastern border is? It is almost impossible to place a wire here, perhaps only on some parts, “Ujic warns.

He emphasizes, however, that the only way out of the crisis is the effective border control.
