Chaos in Paris as protests erupt against French President Macron

France has been hit by protests and strikes organised by unions against reforms brought in by Emmanuel Macron’s government, reports Voice of Europe.

 

Five protesters were arrested as violence broke out at the Paris demo as images emerged of French armed police officers tackling protesters, injured people and police using tear gas to control the demonstrators.

One protester and one police officer were injured in the clashes on Tuesday, which are the first since June and are taking place in cities across France including Nice, Marseilles, Tours, Rennes and Bayonne. Students, employees and pensioners have all been protesting against what they believe is the “destruction of the social model”.
